Swinging into action | Extendicare’s 10th Annual Charity Golf Classic puts Alzheimer’s research at the ‘fore’

Last week, we hosted Extendicare’s 10th Annual Charity Golf Classic in support of the Alzheimer Society of Canada’s Research Program (ASRP).

Over the last ten years, we have raised more than $1.3 million for Alzheimer’s research, and at this year’s event, we raised more than $200,000, bringing total support to more than $1.5 million.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Alzheimer Society of Canada’s Research Program (ASRP), to provide funding to researchers with the best new ideas to advance understanding of dementia.

“The research this tournament will support aims to benefit people living with dementia today by finding therapies, improving care, and developing treatments,” says Gail Black-Elliot, Chief Development Officer for the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

To date, the ASRP has helped to fund a range of diverse research projects, including exploring the benefits of music and community for people living with dementia and the use of technology to assist dementia care. Thank you to our participants and valued partners who helped make this year’s event a success!
